Desert Eagle
By Philip Stripling of Project PET Board
The Desert Eagle, also known as the hand cannon, is a very powerful magnum handgun. If you aren't familiar with guns, I can explain. According to Dictionary.com, magnum means: "equipped with a larger charge than other cartridges of the same size." If you still don't get it, this means that a plain .50 caliber cartridge is powerful. A magnum cartridge has even more power, even though they are the same caliber. Get it now? The gun comes in three different calibers: .357, .44, and .50AE(Action Express). There are two models: Mark VII and Mark XIX. The Mark VII comes in .357 and .44 calibers. The Mark XIX comes in all three calibers. Here are the basic specs of a .50 cal (6" barrel with no mods): Length: 10.75 inches Height: 6.25 inches Width: 1.25 inches Trigger Reach: 2.75 inches Sight Radius: 8.5 inches Weight w/Empty Magazine: 71.4 oz. Polygonal Rifling: 1 turn in 19 inches Magazine Capacity: 7 Bore Diameter: .495" It is a very nice gun with extreme power. It is a nice hunting gun for big game (if you go for small game, there won't be any game left if you hit it) as well. The gun is a gas-operated semi-automatic pistol and actually works much like an assault rifle as opposed to a pistol. The maximum effective range with the 6" barrel is 650'. When the last shot has been fired, the slide is held in the maximum recoil position so that the magazine can be quickly changed and have a round reloaded instantly. The base model of the Desert Eagle is $1,475. It is a gun well worth investing in, however the .50AE is not recommended for inexperienced shooters. The .44 and .357 will be more accurate and easier to handle. |

Sounds like a scary gun.
CONTRIBUTOR'S REPLY
If you're looking down the barrel, it is. But it's a very nice gun as well.
